$2.4 Million

Rimac has the fastest accelerating car ever, beating Tesla’s previous record. The Nevera packs a 120 kWh battery and has a combined power of a mind-blowing 1888 bhp. The Nevera can propel from 0 to 62 mph in just 1.85 seconds, about .5 seconds quicker than Tesla’s Roadster. The vehicle can also hit a top speed of 257 mph. The 33 year old founder, Mate Rimac, recently took the $2.4 million Nevera off-road. Check out the video above for anyone who would want to do this. In other EV News

  • Ford and Rivian are no longer going to build a vehicle together. Both automakers mutually decided to focus on their own projects. In 2019, Rivian and Ford planned to produce an EV model together when Ford invested $500 million in the startup. Ford is confident now in their abilities to produce EV’s without the help of Rivian.

  • The U.K. is requiring installed charging points in all new buildings starting next year. The regulations are estimated to bring 145,000 extra charging points in England each year. The requirement will apply to new homes and non-residential buildings such as supermarkets. Buildings undergoing large-scale renovations will have more than 10 EV parking spots.

  • Rolls-Royce’s all-electric Spirit of Innovation aircraft has set three new world speed records, making it the world’s fastest all-electric aircraft. The aircraft reached a top speed of 345.4 mph over 3 kilometers, surpassing the record by 132 mph. The aircraft achieved 330 mph over 15 kilometers, surpassing the old record by 182 mph The plane broke the fastest time to climb up to 3,000 meters by 60 seconds with a time of 202 seconds.

  • When choosing a charging station, it is important to make sure your electrical panel has the capacity for a charging station to be installed. Also, you need to make sure that the EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) you want has a warranty and customer support is available. Do your research.

  • Tesla’s Full Self Driving Beta software update (10.5) was rolled out last weekend and is being tested by a fleet of Tesla owners selected by the company and through its “safety test score.” With Tesla’s software, the update allows the vehicle to drive autonomously to a destination entered within the navigation system. In other Tesla news, the new Tesla Model S Plaid may be launched in China next spring with a delivery date towards the end of 2022 and a price tag of $166,150.

Vay is working with teledrivers that operate autonomous vehicles from computer stations that have a full driver-seat set up. This offers a part-time solution to autonomous driving. The teledriver is able to step in when the vehicle is unable to navigate difficult situations. Vay hopes to eventually provide remote-controlled ride-hailing services.

  • Apple’s Titan project, their self-driving vehicle, has a launch goal of 2025. Apple has apparently completed most of the work on a new processor, and the company will soon put the chip into its test vehicle fleet in California.

  • REE Automotive’s Leopard is designed for customers seeking incredibly fast shipping and delivery times, such as e-retailers like Amazon. The vehicle is designed with a low floor to add more cargo space, a 50kWh battery capacity, and a top speed of 60 mph. Maybe we’ll see a REE Automotive and Amazon collaboration in the future!
