Which companies' upcoming EVs excite you the most?
We asked this in our newsletter last week. Tesla and Other equally garnered 25% of the vote, while surprisingly, BMW and Ford received no votes, which I suspect could be due to some sort of technical error. We’ll look into this. Below are some comments related to the poll.

Dubai has launched its first autonomous electric wooden abra (traditional boat) to support its carbon reduction and autonomous transportation goals. Manufactured by the Roads and Transport Authority, the boat can carry eight passengers and operates on an autonomous control system. This innovation aligns with Dubai's plan to have 25% of all journeys be autonomous by 2030 and contributes to its strategy to reduce public transport carbon emissions.
In Q1 2023, Polestar delivered 12,076 cars (up 26% YoY) and launched two new models, but it reduced its production forecast to 60,000-70,000 vehicles due to a delay in Polestar 3's production, initiated cost-cutting measures, and expects to be strengthened in the electric SUV market by 2024.
Honda has unveiled its second fully electric vehicle, the e:Ny1, a B-segment SUV designed to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles in Europe. The e:Ny1 is built on Honda's newly-developed e:N Architecture F platform and features a high-performance, lightweight three-in-one integrated power drive unit, electric motor, and gearbox. It has a maximum output of 201 horsepower, 227 lb-ft of torque, and delivers up to 256 miles (WLTP) of range. The e:Ny1 is expected to go on sale in Europe in 2023.
Hertz Global Holdings is transitioning to EVs, aiming for 25% of its 500,000 vehicle fleet to be electric by the end of 2024, a move that has led to a rise in shares after its recent earnings report. The company plans to increase EV rentals nearly fivefold by 2023, facilitated by a decrease in EV prices and a partnership with Uber, which allows drivers to rent EVs, thus saving on routine expenses and offering a buffer against traditional fluctuations in the leisure business.
Subaru plans to increase its EV production, aiming to build 400,000 EVs annually by 2028, including four new all-electric crossovers by 2026.
