EV Headlines

Ford Motor Company

  • On top of the release of the Lightning truck last week, Ford makes some more EV announcements.  First, Ford announced 2 additional EV platforms this week.  Ford also boosted their targeted spending on EVs from $22 billion to $30 billion by 2030.   They also want EVs to make up for 40% of their volume.

  • Long Island makes up a third of all EV sales in NY.  Part of the reason for this is in part because of the incentives offered to Long Island's residents.  The power company offers a $500 credit towards an EV charger and also offers cashback for off-peak charging.  This is on top of NY’s $2,000 rebate for the purchase of an EV and the federal tax credit of $7,500.  Brush up on your EV tax credits.

Autonomous Bulletin

Giphy

  • Germany’s lower house of parliament passes legislation that will allow AVs on public roads by next year.  The bill's next hurdle is the upper chamber of parliament.

  • A Project in Maryland kicks off for an 11 mile corridor for self driving vehicles.

  • The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is working on a pilot (pun intended) program for AVs to carry luggage between terminals and aircrafts.  This environment works well for a testing environment due to the lack of uncontrolled pedestrians.

  • Get your free autonomous shuttle ride.  May Mobility has been on the streets of Grand Rapids for a little over a week and they seem to be garnering a bit of attention from the locals. These shuttles will take people from downtown to the west side of the city and don’t worry, there is a shuttle driver who can take control at any time.

All About  Charging

East Idaho News

  • More and more charging stations are popping up every day.  There is a big question of how it’ll affect the electrical grid.  Scientists in Idaho are working on a solution, Microgrids. Charging station microgrids can connect to the existing electrical grid or work completely independent. These microgrids can be powered by clean resources, generators, or batteries.

  • An LA architect has designed a drive-in movie theater that doubles as a charging station.  How cool is that?
