The U.S. electric vehicle market is set to grow from $206.76 billion in 2024 to $537.53 billion by 2033, driven by diverse EV models and technological advancements. However, uneven charging infrastructure, especially in rural areas, poses a significant challenge to widespread EV adoption.
The extensively updated Tesla Model 3 has earned Edmunds' Top Rated Electric Car award for 2025 thanks to comprehensive improvements in range, ride quality, handling, and interior build quality while maintaining its competitive pricing.
Nissan plans to source batteries for its US electric vehicles from SK On starting around 2028, while also considering producing compact EVs at its Kyushu plant in Japan.
Two innovative anti-theft solutions have been unveiled by ChargePoint: a cut-resistant charging cable designed to be harder to vandalize while remaining user-friendly, and a built-in alarm system that detects tampering in real time. The cut-resistant cables will be available for licensing by mid-2025, while the alarm system will be available this month as a free software upgrade for select charging stations, offering features like SMS alerts and law enforcement notification capabilities.
Washington state has seen its public EV charging infrastructure more than double since 2021, growing from 1,100 stations with 3,500 ports to over 2,600 stations with 7,000 ports today.
In a sweeping executive order targeting electric vehicle policies, former President Trump directed his administration to consider eliminating EV subsidies and halting funding for charging infrastructure allocated through Biden-era legislation. The order also aims to terminate state-level authority to limit gas-powered vehicle sales, particularly targeting California's zero-emission vehicle requirements, though it stops short of explicitly directing changes to federal emissions and fuel economy regulations.
A new sporty GS trim has been launched for Vauxhall's Vivaro line, with the electric version offering a 209-mile range, 100kW rapid charging, and premium features like eco-leather seats, a heated steering wheel, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The Vivaro Electric GS starts at ÂŁ48,940 (after grant, excluding VAT) and comes equipped with a 75kWh battery and 136PS electric motor, capable of charging from 5% to 80% in just 45 minutes.
Ford will release its fourth-quarter and full-year 2024 financial results on February 5th at 4:05 p.m. ET, followed by a conference call at 5:00 p.m. ET where company executives will discuss the results and the progress of their Ford+ growth plan.
NaaS Technology, a leading EV charging service provider in China, expanded its network to 360 cities, covering over 50% of the country. This growth, driven by increased infrastructure and partnerships with major automakers, resulted in a record-high gross margin of 57% in the latest quarter.
A key milestone has been reached for Century Lithium's Angel Island project, which aims to help meet growing EV and battery storage demand by producing 34,000 tonnes of battery-grade lithium carbonate annually in Nevada. The company's non-binding MOU with Orica for sodium hydroxide offtake marks early commercial progress for what will be one of the few end-to-end lithium processing operations in the United States, supporting the expanding domestic electric vehicle battery supply chain.
