EV Headlines
Magment
The advent of EVs has forged many new partners such as Rivian & Amazon, Foxconn & Fisker, and most recently, Hyundai and LG. Together, they are teaming up for a $1.1 billion battery plant in Indonesia. The venture will break ground this year with production starting in 2024. The duo expects 10 gigawatt hours of battery cells out of the facility, which equates to 150,000 battery electric vehicles.
In other teamwork news, Magment is teaming up with Purdue University and Indiana DOT to develop magnetizable concrete to charge your EV while driving. The first phase will include testing a small stretch of road near Purdue. If successful, they’ll move to phase two, testing a quarter mile of road at an INDOT location. Phase three involves testing a section of public road.

Pricing for the XPeng P5 was released earlier this week. The based model P5 features a cruising range of 286 miles, with the top of the line model getting up to 373 miles. The self driving version is equipped with 13 HD cameras, 32 perception sensors and pairs with their autonomous software to offer what they are calling XPILOT 3.5. Software and upgrades (not batteries) sold separately.
EV sales jumped 254.9% in Q2 2021 vs. Q1 2020. Tesla dominated the EV market with 64% of the EV segment, but that is down from 71% in Q1 and seems to be shrinking as more EVs come to market.
