Happy Thursday! We attended the Denver Auto Show last weekend and it was great to see the presence of EVs increasing. Our utility company also had a display to educate attendees about incentives related to EVs. Reservations for Cadillac’s 2023 Lyriq ‘Debut Edition’ vehicles sold out in 10 minutes. The Lyriq has a starting price of $60,000 and a range of around 300 miles with 190kW fast charging capabilities. It also has a 33 inch infotainment display. It was originally stated as selling out in 19 minutes, and then it was revised to 10 minutes. Either way, there is some great demand for the Lyriq. In other EV News
Honda is targeting initial annual sales of 70,000 for its planned electric Prologue sport utility vehicle when it is released in 2024. The Prologue will be co-developed along with General Motors Co.; the two companies are also producing an electric Acura-brand SUV.
Spring Free EV, a fintech company built to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles through innovative fintech products debuted this week. Spring Free has a Mileage Purchase Agreement (MPA) that makes EVs more affordable by reducing the upfront costs and charging a fee per mile of use.
Advancement in infrastructure will be able to make destinations like Yellowstone, Acadia or Yosemite National Parks more reachable for electric cars. Over the last decade, state and federal agencies, along with private partners, have been working to fill the EV charging gap by installing charging facilities on public lands.
Eli Electric Vehicles announced the production of its Eli Zero, a micro “neighborhood electric vehicle,” perfect for commuting in the city. The company will distribute the vehicles throughout Europe. with a starting price of $11,999.
Weber State University’s Department of Automotive Technology aims to produce a large quantity of workers skilled in working with electric vehicles. Weber received $300,000 in grant funds from the state of Utah to aid the project.

Steps for taking care of your EV:
Conduct regular battery checks.
Watch where you park your car. Keep out of direct sunlight.
Wash the underbody.
Keep a regular service schedule.
Don’t always charge the vehicle to total capacity, keep it to around 80% or 90% and avoid completely draining it before charging again.
Ford’s Mustang Mach-E is set to be tested by the Michigan State Police as part of its 2022 Model Year Police Evaluation. Ford has also produced a Mach-E police car in the UK.
Michigan governor, Gretchen Whitmer, announced a new initiative to develop the nation’s first wireless charging infrastructure on public roads in Michigan.
Mercedes-Benz has priced the EQS electric vehicle at a starting rate of $103,360, about $8,700 less than the S-class gas powered vehicle.

Baidu Deepway has released Xingtu, a smart energy heavy-duty truck with a computing power of more than 500 teraflops per second and long-distance sensing capabilities of more than 1 kilometer. The first generation of Xingtu will have level 3 capabilities with level 4 capabilities on routes between 2024 and 2026. Xingtu will have 10 onboard cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, and three infrared detectors to achieve autonomous driving.

FedEx and Aurora are launching a program for autonomous truck shipments between Dallas and Houston. Initially, the 500 mile journey will involve backup drivers for safety. By the end of 2023, the trucks will deliver shipments without safety drivers.
Self-driving startup Argo AI, automaker Ford Motor Co. and Walmart Inc. will launch an autonomous vehicle delivery service in Miami, Austin and Washington D.C.
German startup Vay has proposed a ‘human teledriver’ sitting at screens to navigate a vehicle remotely. This interim measure is a proposition on the way to fully autonomous vehicles. Vay has been testing teledrivers in Berlin.
China has published its first national standards for grading autonomous driving that will go into effect in March 2022. China’s six level standards will provide official definitions for self-driving cars.
