1. The next-generation e-Palette, a battery-electric, multi-use vehicle designed for transportation, mobile services, and future Level 4 automated driving, has been launched by Toyota to advance a carbon-neutral mobility society.

2. At its new Georgia plant, Rivian has broken ground on a multibillion-dollar project expected to create 7,500 jobs by 2030, begin production of the R2 SUV and R3 crossover in 2028, and ultimately reach an annual capacity of 400,000 EVs while delivering significant economic benefits to the region.

The new BMW Group plant in Debrecen, Hungary, set to begin series production of the BMW iX3 in late October, combines fully renewable energy, advanced digitalized processes, AI-driven quality control, and in-house high-voltage battery assembly to deliver efficient, low-emission, and highly sustainable vehicle production.

5. Through its ChargeMinder app in the U.S. and Japan, the Toyota Research Institute found that behavioral science interventions significantly improved EV charging habits, boosting renewable energy use and reducing carbon emissions while increasing driver satisfaction.

6. At the Ampere Douai Plant, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance is advancing its EV strategy, with flexible production lines preparing the all-electric Nissan Micra, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, and multiple Renault and Alpine EV models for European markets, highlighting the Alliance’s commitment to sustainable mobility and industrial innovation.

7. Through a US$1.16 billion equity offering, including the full exercise of underwriters’ options, NIO Inc. will fund smart EV R&D, new models, battery swapping and charging expansion, and overall growth initiatives.

8. EnviroSpark and Sutter Health have partnered to install EV charging stations across Northern California, enabling patients, visitors, and caregivers to conveniently charge their vehicles while supporting sustainability and enhancing the care experience.

9. For the fourth time in three years, XNRGY is expanding with a new 330,000 sq ft Mesa 2 facility, boosting AI-enhanced air-cooled chiller production, creating approximately 500 jobs, and reinforcing its position as a leader in advanced thermal management solutions.

10. South Korea’s first pilot plant for all-solid-state batteries has been opened by SK On, using its WIP-free process to develop sulfide-based and lithium-metal batteries, with plans to commercialize next-generation ASSBs by 2029.

11. The 2025 Altair Enlighten Award was won by NIO and AkzoNobel for co-developing a durable, lightweight battery plate coating that triples EV battery shielding life, supports NIO’s 15-year battery longevity goal, and advances sustainable automotive innovation.

12. Three Loyola University engineering students—Adrien Lee, Connor Pavlik, and Carlos Cardoza—founded ACC Industries to develop recyclable EV batteries, aiming to make EV energy storage more sustainable with support from Loyola’s Simon Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship.
